In depth

Verdict

Little Edward, Heavens Walk and Taboor are three in with a chance in this open-looking contest, with the tentative vote going to the first-named who looked good for more than the winning margin when winning at Lingfield last time out. The selection disappointed on his sole appearance at this track, but has looked a horse in very good form this winter. He is taken to overcome his winner's penalty for that last success, and is turned out very quickly by his shrewd trainer. Heavens Walk won his only start at the track back in July, and he must surely rate a danger for his thriving stable even though he appears to be handicapped right up to his best form. He could yet find some improvement and so rates a big threat to the selection. Taboor was slightly disappointing in a better race last time out at Musselburgh, but he too rates a big danger based on his previous efforts. However, his all-weather record doesn't exactly inspire confidence for a win and so he could run well but end up with place money once again. Of those at a larger price, Gwilym could go well, whilst Quality Street has run well off a higher mark in the past without winning and so a reproduction of old form would put him in with a shout. However, in a trappy-looking race, we return to Little Edward as our idea of the winner.
