My Final Bid can end a frustrating sequence of seconds to get the better of Dawn Devoy and Auenmoon, with Double Vodka and Great Approach best of the remainder. My Final Bid has finished second on each of his five career outings, including here at Kelso on January and it is not for the want of trying that he has failed to get his head in front. The son of Supreme Leader faced a massive step up in trip at Newcastle last time, stepped up to three miles, but yet again managed to reach the frame. His stamina will not have to be called upon as much here and he is given another chance. Dawn Devoy has an absence to overcome, having finished second to Downing Street at Perth in May, and will be better for the outing, while Auenmoon could not cope with Billyandi on heavy ground at Haydock last time but was a creditable second. Double Vodka shapes as though he needs further, and Great Approach likewise on limited evidence. Nothing else makes much appeal and for the winner we return to My Final Bid.
