Whatever Ferdy Murphy has been doing with his horses at home is working well at present and his Toulon Rouge can gain some compensation for her mishap at Newcastle last month if she can manage a clear round today. Posh Stick and Silken Peals provide the main body of the opposition, with the former arriving on a upwards curve and expected to provide the sternest test. However, she is not the largest animal to be sent over fences and she will need to be at the top of her game to cope with her 6lb penalty today. Silken Pearls coped with this sort of ground over hurdles and can be expected to find a race before too long. However, her ability over fences has to be taken on trust and she is probably best watched. Which brings us back to Toulon Rouge, who is fancied to put the record straight this afternoon. She still going ominously well when she tipped up at Gosforth Park and reportedly emerged unscathed from the experience. The daughter of Toulon is better judged on her previous form this season and she is expected to be full of running when the rest have cried enough today.
