In depth

Verdict

Hurricane Bay can make the most of the weight that he receives from Carnacrack to land the finale. With Interdit pulled up on his last two outings and Hades de Sienne failing to complete on his last start six months ago, it does really look a match on paper between the other pair. A winner at Wetherby for Jonjo O'Neill in May, Hurricane Bay has had three outings since joining Peter Niven, and has not really looked like adding to his tally. However, he is likely to appreciate this stamina test and will act on the good ground. He does have a 30-length deficit to make up with Carnacrack on Cartmel running in July, but is six-pounds better off at the weights which should help a bit. Added to that, Sandy Forster's charge has appeared eight times at Kelso in all and has yet to score here. Granted, he will still be a tough nut to crack, but Hurricane Bay has the assistance of Tony Dobbin and in receipt of weight all round, can run a big race.
