In depth

Verdict

The short-listed three are Forroger, Greek Well and Abstract Art, with Forroger getting the call. Greek Well gets the 'could be anything' comment. He was well-touted ahead of his racing career starting last season and could be on a very fair mark this time around. A penalty might bring to an end Cripsey Brook's winning run, while Dium Mac should be sharper for his seasonal return and could still be on a competitive mark following his end-of-last-season wins. Manipulate suggested in his maiden runs that today's trip could suit, and he is not ruled out, while High Treason ended last season on a high but has to keep the improvement coming on his return. Abstract Art's May 2006 win from Conservation when last season looks pretty solid and, from a respected stable, he can go well, while Mark Tompkins Massoula is another potential improver. Forroger definitely falls into that category, as he was probably not ridden to best effect on his final start last season and faster going might also help matters today. As such, he gets the vote, although, whatever he does today, he should be up to winning races during the campaign.
