        Verdict

        In an interesting race, Rhaam is selected ahead of Yossi and Double Doors. The Barry Hills-trained Rhaam disappointed at York last time having left a good impression in winning his two races that preceded that run. Back in trip from that Knavesmire run, he looks set to go well today. Based on Pontefract maiden form, recent maiden winner Yossi, who receives four pounds for a short head, has the beating of the selection so his chance has to be respected, while the John Gosden-trained Ripon maiden winner, Double Doors, has to enter calculations as a lightly-raced improver. Best of the others might prove to be Fossgate, who is on a winning mark from a year ago and whose best 2007 efforts would not entirely rule him out. For the selection, though, we will stick with Rhaam.
