As those with previous experience were slightly disappointing this is taken to go to one of the newcomers; with King Marju fancied before looking at Silent Joe and Derby entry Art Elegant. The last named is trained by Barry Hills, whose record with younger horses at this meeting is as good as anyone, and he sends out Ground Rules, who made a favourable impression on his debut. The cliche about him likely to have come on for the run will no doubt be bounced off the walls and he has to be given plenty of respect. So too does Silent Joe, who represents the all conquering Godolphin organisation. However, his lack of fancy entries combined with his American pedigree are slightly off-putting and better value could lay elsewhere. Which brings us back to the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained King Marju, who has plenty of speed in his make up. It may also be worth noting that Chapple-Hyam has a policy of introducing only his best two-year-olds at the high profile meetings - which is clue enough for us to give King Marju the nod in a race that should produce a winners as time goes on.
