A typically competitive renewal of this prestigious and valuable contest in which the vagaries of the draw will make this tough to crack with pace on both sides of the track but the TEAMtalk vote has to go to Border Subject. The five-year-old has proved a most progressive performer this term and has rightfully been at the head of the ante-post market since finishing a gallant runner-up in the Wokingham last month. Roger Charlton's game front runner has been raised 5lb since but can confirm placings with those who finished behind at Royal Ascot notably Peruvian Chief (fifth), Halmahera (sixth), Doctor Spin (eighth) and Grey Eminence (twelfth). The latter has boosted the form when coming late to land a minor event over 7f at Chester but may find this sharp track against him back over this trip but Trace Clip has been knocking on the door of late and should go well with his stable in such good form. Dandy Nicholls is always a man to fear in this type of event and the Sessay handler is well represented with Hurricane Floyd and Awake the pick of the bunch while Tom Tun remains in top form and should also be considered at an each way price.
