Verdict

A very weak race where it is hard to seriously enthuse about the claims held by any of the quartet set to face the starting tapes. However, as none of them have shown much of an aptitude for this game it may pay to give former pointer, Ice Saint, the benefit of the doubt to small stakes. Cyanara, as the most experienced chaser in the pack, is preferred over Mayb-Mayb and the lightly raced Honneur Fontenail as the main danger - although she has only acted as a pace-setter in similar events in the past and it will be a race to cast aside for solid reference in the future if she finally manages to break her duck over fences today. Therefore, Ice Saint, who won off a mark of 82 over hurdles a couple of years ago, may be worth chancing on his chase debut under rules in this company. The nine-year-old has plenty of experience from point-to-points to draw on from earlier in his career and will not find many easier races to be introduced to regulation fences. Matt Gingell does well with the facilities available to him and Ice Saint can strike a blow for his Suffolk-based team today.
