Verdict

Bob Run is lightly raced and David Arbuthnot's gelding has to be of interest on his first outing since May but he disappointed on his only previous start on ground softer than good so may be best watched in a race taken to go to AKARSHAN, who gets the nod over Nur Tau. Nick Gifford's gelding was good value for his win in a novices' hurdle at Plumpton last month for which a 4lb rise is perfectly fair and he has solid claims back in a handicap. Alison Thorpe's Ouste has run well enough in both starts this term but probably needs some help from the handicapper, while Local Present races off the same mark as on his last four starts when running creditably but he again looks booked for a place at best. Peter Bowen's Mayor Of Kilcock has only had five runs so far and could be of interest having got no further than the fifth flight before unseating Tony McCoy on his handicap debut at Huntingdon last month. The vote though goes the way of another relatively lightly raced runner in the Evan Williams-trained Akarshan. The four-year-old showed progressive form this time last year and he looks worth chancing on his reappearance having been dropped 3lbs since his most recent start in March.
