In depth

Verdict

The fact that Frankie Dettori stays for the last to ride Scarrabus is hint enough to give Brendan Powell's charge the selection over Fuel Cell and Topkat in the finale. That said, Witching is an interesting debutante and is one to watch closely whatever happens tonight. While Tiz Molly appears to need further already and is not hard to overlook on her reappearance here. The previous race will give a good indication towards the chance of Fuel Cell, as he finished a length and a half behind Alfrifdini in an apprentice handicap on his penultimate start. He has claims on that effort but he was a big let down when sent off as favorite at Windsor recently and has a little to prove now. Topkat is another that may need a little more time as he was very slow to get the hang of things on his debut and could never get competitive. He could make an impact somewhere along the line though and he will no doubt be found an opening in time. For this evening though, Scarrabus looks the one to be on as he has held his own in some tougher races and, with the Italian Maestro doing the steering, he finally looks to have the opportunity he has been waiting for to force his head in front.
