Slate was good value for his win at Warwick last month and Jamie Osborne's colt is taken to defy the subsequent 5lb rise in the weights and follow up with the main threats looking to be Bold Abbott and Azeema. The last mentioned stepped up on his debut effort when running out a good winner at Chester last month but the Barry Hills-trained filly would not appear to be particularly well treated for her debut in a handicap. Willie Jarvis has his string in good form right now so Oi Vay Joe may improve on two-year-old form but needs to, while Danehillsundance has more to do than when landing a Lingfield maiden last time. Clive Brittain's Karoo Blue has been typically highly tried and a better bet may be the progressive Bold Abbott from the in-form yard of Amanda Perrett. Slate has comfortably the best form on offer though and he is taken to win again.
