Polar Scout has been found a poor contest in which to try and get Newton Abbot losses back, and can do so at the expense of Walcot Lad and Balla D'Aire. Although Polar Scout has to give lumps of weight away to his four opponents, his overall form suggests that he will be up to the task. The fact that he found little when asked to go about his business last time prevents us from making him a 'good thing' but a win at Market Rasen and a fair second to Prokofiev at Newbury in March reads well in the context of this race. He remains well treated compared to his hurdles form and can put matters right here. Walcot Lad was tailed off over further at Fontwell and he is rated a good few pounds lower than the selection, and Balla D'Aire also suffered the same fate at Towcester. The more one looks at the make up of the race, the more it appears that Polar Scout will not have a better chance of getting back to winning ways.
