In depth

Verdict

Direct Flight has been found a suitable opportunity to add to his Kelso win and gets the vote over Alcopop, Dead Mans Dante and Migwell. The Noel Chance inmate was all the rage on his reappearance and did not let his supporters down as he sluiced home in the driving rain. It has to be said that he will never be found as easy an opportunity again, but this is not much better, and the drop back in trip is probably a bonus at this stage. With his partner taking off a valuable seven-pounds, it is hard to look elsewhere for the winner. Alcopop has not been seen since finishing fourth when favourite behind The Weaver at Catterick in March. However, he is sure to have been well schooled over hurdles and will no doubt benefit from this trip in time. Dead Mans Dante was well held when runner-up at Hexham three weeks ago and needs to brush up his jumping, while Migwell came to grief in fair company at Newbury on his last racecourse appearance in March, and at the age of four has the scope to progress in time. On this occasion though he will do well to stop Direct Flight from following up, and adding to his win in the bumper on this card last year.
