In depth

Verdict

A tricky race to weigh up with many of the field - as you would expect in a race of this nature - unexposed. The betting market might provide the best clues. Some key stables are represented here: Richard Johnson rides Day Lewis for Jonjo O'Neill; Paul Nicholls has booked Tony McCoy for Wild Knight, and Nicky Henderson runs two, of which, based on jockey bookings, Arctic Sky would seem to have the better chance. Nigel Twiston-Davies runs a Roselier filly, Angelina Ballerina. He trained her dam to win a three-and-a-quarter mile Stratford chase in 1991. Cashew Kid is a half-brother to a number of winning jumpers, including the high-class Carobee, so ought to be better than he has shown. One that does catch the eye is the Richard Phillips runner, Reseda. He's a late foal by Rock Hopper out of Sweet Mignorette, who won 15 races for Mary Reveley including the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in 1995. Warren Marston rides. Carroll's Gold, another late foal, is by the Arc winner Carroll House out of a Deep Run mare, so may have better to come in time. Jim Culloty rides this one. Auld Thynes Sake is also bred for jumping and should improve in time.
