Rudi's Pet is an obvious choice in this claimer, with form well above that of his 10 rivals, the best of whom is Zarzu. David Nichols has had plenty of mileage out of the nine-year-old, successful in Group 3 company at his best, and who lined up in a Listed race at Epsom in June. In all honesty, Rudi's Pet is starting to show signs of being past his sell by date, but should still eat these for breakfast. He deserves a healthy retirement, but not before he has rattled up another success here. Zarzu, a course and distance winner here, was a beaten favourite at Newcastle and cannot hold a candle to the selection on all known form. The rest have no claims, although one or two may be claimed afterwards, and Rudi's Pet cannot be opposed.
