Clear Ice and Welcome Approach are enjoying splendidly consistent years but there's a question mark against both on good to soft ground on which they are unproven and more rain could jeopardise their chances further. In contrast, NEEDY MCCREDIE is a mare who enjoys getting her toe in and was far from disgraced when failing to shrug off a 6lb rise here last time for a previous course success. Her liking for this venue is a major plus and she gets the vote under the capable Julie Burke. Volito did the job sweetly at Goodwood last time and rates a real threat under Henry Brooke, although he'll not appreciate softening conditions either. Tasmeem and Ryedane don't pop up too often but have valid claims if arriving somewhere around their best.
