In depth

Verdict

A truly dreadful race full of inconsistent and mainly poor animals. TEAMtalk take a chance with Replacement Pet as he has shown a certain level of consistency this season and has at least managed to win. The trip is ideal and the firmer the ground the better. If Timeless Chick stays this extra two furlongs then he rates as a danger to the selection. A winner of an apprentice race here two months ago he has been given a break since finishing a close third in a Chepstow seller later that month. He looks reasonably handicapped and should go well. The rest are full of 'ifs and buts' though the form of Encounter's trainer gives some encouragement. The horse itself would have a chance on his best form but has yet to prove he stays ten furlongs. Dovebrace suggested 9 days ago at Ayr that he was coming back to the form he showed a couple of seasons ago and it is interesting his trainer sends him such a long way. He has definite each-way possibilities.
