held up in rear, headway over 1f out, ridden and led approaching final furlong, driven out
keen, close up, joined leader briefly over 3f out, soon ridden and weakened final furlong
led after 2f, joined over 3f out, ridden and headed approaching final furlong, kept on one pace
dwelt, held up in touch, ridden 2f out, every chance inside final furlong, held close home
held up towards rear, ridden over 3f out, headway over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, not trouble leaders
steady start, keen, held up, never dangerous
led, headed after 2f, remained close up, ridden 4f out, weakened over 1f out
This is quite a competitive finale, but Birth Of The Blues won nicely last time, and is just preferred to Analogy and Taffy Dancer. The latter is a course and distance winner who is lightly raced and ran well for a long way at Chepstow last time, so is a leading contender here with Richard Hughes in the saddle. Analogy got off the mark at Ayr last time and Sir Mark Prescott's gelding is likely to have plenty of supporters in his follow up bid. However, that was a weak race and we just side with Birth Of The Blues here. Alistair Charlton's gelding won an amateurs handicap at Salisbury in good fashion last time, and a five pound rise in the weights does not appear too harsh. He is still well in on some of his old form, and with Jamie Mackay taking over in the saddle he is fancied to go one better.
