Sir Bond has been well placed by Bryan Smart to win three of his last four starts but they have all been in banded stakes races and this looks tougher so preference is for Band, who gets the vote ahead of Golden Spectrum. The last mentioned has been running well in plating class of late and won with plenty in hand here two starts ago. The softer surface should not inconvenience the David Nicholls-trained gelding but a 6lb penalty in a better race leaves him with more to do. Kamenka would have claims off her lightweight if staying this trip, while a market move for either Uhuru Peak or Cryfield would be of interest. Kalani Star has slipped to a fair mark and is of interest although has yet to confirm his liking for ground this soft and preference is for Band. Ed McMahon's string has shown signs of coming into form recently and, with the testing conditions not a problem, the son of the stable's Band On The Run looks worth a bet on his reappearance.
