Mark Johnston appears to have a strong hand in this competitive affair and Marinas Charm is narrowly preferred over stable mates Greta d'Argent and Penny Cross while Tadris and Ice Palace are others to consider. The selection has proved a most progressive performer and was notching her third success of the current campaign when landing a valuable classified event at Doncaster's St Leger meeting. The daughter of Zafonic showed a useful turn of foot to lead before three out and showed a willing attitude to repel a number of challengers in the closing stages. Still relatively lightly raced, the three-year-old is open to further progrress and the return to this shorter trip should prove no inconvenience for this pacey performer. Penny Cross has been well placed to win on three occasions this term but recent efforts suggest she may now be in the handicapper's grip while Greta d'Argent ran below expectations last time and now has something to prove. Tadris has looked unlucky on more than one occasion of late and is entitled to respect off a potentially lenient mark while Ice Palace is unexposed and is clearly on the upgrade so rates a serious threat but Marinas Charm sets the standard and should prove tough to beat.
