Duchamp had a decent first year as a novice, but he looks likely to struggle at present off this mark. Shamawan was a progressive individual last term and doesn't look harshly treated on his effort behind the useful Batswing at Punchestown last season. He looks sure to run well, but a chance is taken with Saragann, who races over this trip, over fences, for the first time since winning a conditional jockeys chase at Kempton last year. Although a winner over an extended two miles, he has shaped as though a return to this trip would see him in a better light. Ballybough Rasher, who ruined his chance when walking through the first in the straight at Wetherby, before staying on again, can be expected to improve on that effort and will not be far away.
