Verdict

Santenay missed an intended engagement against high-class stablemate Thisthatandtother last week and, at this level, looks to classy for his rivals of who Mister McGoldrick makes most appeal for the forecast spot. The selection was easily the best of these over hurdles and, while not as yet a natural over the larger obstacles, has shown enough to merit the vote against today's opponents. Irish raider Janidou, who has a penalty to carry for winning a weak Roscommon novice event, needs to step up on what he has shown so far to trouble either of the other two runners Island Faith and Mister McGoldrick. The last mentioned, a 133-rated hurdler at his best, makes his debut over fences and appeals more than Island Faith, who has more on his plate than when winning at Carlisle earlier in the month. However, Santenay sets a decent standard and will be tough to beat.
