Teddy Bridgewater participated in 11-on-11 drills and showed no physical limitations in his first full practice as a member of the New York Jets on Tuesday.

Bridgewater wore a sleeve on his surgically reconstructed left knee but ran drills including rollouts and sprints from the pocket without any sign of the issues that led to the Minnesota Vikings opting to cut ties with the former first-round pick.

Signed to a one-year deal as an unrestricted free agent, Bridgewater is competing with Josh McCown and rookie Sam Darnold to be under centre when the Jets open the regular season.

Former second-round pick Christian Hackenberg is No 4 on the depth chart.

Bridgewater suffered a devastating knee injury in August 2016 and missed the entire season. He returned in October 2017 but head coach Mike Zimmer used Bridgewater in just one game.

At the end of the season, Zimmer admitted he felt Bridgewater "wasn't right" physically, and the Vikings set free all three quarterbacks under contract last season - Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Bridgewater - to sign Kirk Cousins.
