The New Orleans Saints have agreed a two-year, $50m contract extension with quarterback Drew Brees, according to NFL Network.
The deal includes $27m guaranteed and ensures the 39-year-old, 11-time Pro Bowl quarterback will be back for a 13th season with the Saints. It also includes a no-trade clause.
NFL insider Ian Rapaport first reported the deal.
The quarterback-needy Minnesota Vikings had reached out to Brees to explore whether the future Hall-of-Famer would consider a sensational departure from New Orleans but that was always considered a long shot.
Brees' contract makes him the third-highest paid quarterback in the NFL, alongside Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders, with an average of $25m.
Jimmy Garoppolo is currently the NFL's highest-paid quarterback with an average of $27.5m, just ahead of Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions, who earns $27m.
