The Indianapolis Colts have hired former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich to be their head coach.

Reich leaves the Eagles after their 41-33 Super Bowl triumph over the New England Patriots last Sunday.

The Patriots' offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had agreed to take the role last week but performed a shock U-turn after reportedly being offered an improved contract by Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Reich started his NFL coaching career in Indianapolis as an intern in 2006 before being promoted to quarterbacks coach three years later, where he worked with league MVP Peyton Manning.

"He also has a stellar reputation, and his myriad of life experiences and the people he has worked with make him the perfect fit for us and our fans.
