Watch as Tom Brady sets a Super Bowl record with 505 pass yards against the Philadelphia Eagles

Tom Brady did everything he could to win a sixth Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots quarterback passed for a Super Bowl record 505 yards in Minneapolis on Sunday, but it was not enough to prevent the Philadelphia Eagles winning their first Lombardi Trophy with a thrilling 41-33 victory.

His fourth-down completion for 13 yards in the fourth quarter to Danny Amendola took the 40-year-old to 478 yards on the day, eclipsing his own record (467) set last year against the Atlanta Falcons.

Brady also extended many of his own career records on the day. In eight games, he has amassed more career passing attempts (357), completions (235) and passing yards (2,576) than any other player in Super Bowl history.

Unfortunately for New England, he was also involved in the biggest play of the game as he was sacked by Brandon Graham in the first sack of the game with just two minutes remaining.

Brady fumbled the ball in the play and the Eagles recovered, allowing them to run the clock down and claim a field goal to seal the win.

Combined with Nick Foles' heroics for the Eagles, it meant Brady's efforts were in vain, but it also meant we enjoyed a treat of a game.
