When a player makes a mistake in the NFL, coaches call them 'teaching moments'...
Well, Rob Ryan, a defensive coach in the league for 17 years, runs us through some teaching moments at the touch screen during his time in the Sky Sports studio.
Boxing clever on defense
Click on the video above to watch Ryan talk you through how to get separation as a receiver, and how the defense has to combat that - specifically, trying not to grab or hold the receiver.
How do you coach that? Put on the boxing gloves. Shaun Gayle dons them for this drill, hitting a nervous Neil Reynolds, while Ryan takes a body shot! Also, the gang talk about the importance of protecting the football, with the defense looking to punch it loose.
A pass-rusher's armoury
In Week 11, Ryan takes you through the strengths of All-Pro Oakland Raiders pass-rusher Khalil Mack - the speed rush, speed to power play, and the long-arm stab. Gayle offers up his services to help demonstrate the plays, looking a little too Chaz Green with his blocking skills...
Shadowing the quarterback
In Week 10, Ryan's coaching corner covers a moment in the Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons game where he guides you through a Jaylon Smith error which resulted in a Matt Ryan completion. Ryan once again uses Gayle, this time as quarterback, to help demonstrate what Smith should have done to prevent the pass play.
