Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long has confirmed he will donate the rest of his salary this season to charity.
Long had previously said he would donate his first six pay packets of the season to fund scholarships in his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, and he will continue that for other charitable causes for the remainder of 2017.
The 32-year-old is earning a base salary of $1m (£760,000) this season and the remainder of his income will be split among groups in the three cities he has represented in the NFL - St Louis, Boston and Philadelphia.
As well as the significant donations, Long has also established "Pledge 10 for Tomorrow" to improve educational opportunities and equity.
"In my 10th year, I want to celebrate the awesome opportunity I've had to play football by giving back to the communities that have given me that gift," Long said.
"Educational opportunity and equity are the best gateway to a better tomorrow for everyone in America."
