Defensive end Myles Garrett was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns, but it was the Chicago Bears that stole the headlines on Thursday night.
The Bears moved up from third to second, in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers, to select North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
The move took many Draft analysts and fans by surprise, given that the Bears had signed QB Mike Glennon to a three-year, $43.5 million contract earlier in the off-season.
In exchange for the second overall pick, the 49ers received the third pick, as well as the 68th and 111th picks, and a third round selection in 2018.
One move earlier, Garrett joined the Browns and celebrated in his hometown of Arlington, Texas. The Browns made two more selections, trading down to 25th where they selected safety Jabrill Peppers, before securing the 29th pick to take 20-year old tight end, David Djoku.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans also traded up for quarterbacks, taking Patrick Mahomes and DeShaun Watson with the 10th and 12th picks respectively.
Despite concerns about the QB class, three went before the 12th pick.
The biggest falls were linebacker Reuben Foster, who joined the 49ers with the 30th selection, and tackle Ryan Ramczyk, who had to wait for the last selection of the night, before his name was called by the New Orleans Saints.
As well as Garrett and Trubisky, Solomon Thomas joined the 49ers, Leonard Fournette was picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Corey Davis became a Tennessee Titan, to complete the top five.
The Pittsburgh Steelers made it an interesting Christmas in the Watt household, drafting linebacker T.J., brother of Texans defensive end J.J. The two teams will play each other in week 16 on Monday Night Football, scheduled for Christmas day.
Defensive end and cornerback were the most popular positions taken, with five of each going in the first round. While the Browns had three picks, the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks did not make a pick.
