Britain’s Jermaine Eluemunor is aiming to become the highest drafted British born player in NFL history.

Eluemunor, 22, was born and raised in London and played rugby before setting his sights on American football.

Known as 'London' to his Texas A&M teammates, he moved to America aged 14 after seeing the game being played at Wembley.

He said: "I was flipping through the TV channels and I came upon the Dolphins and the Giants playing at Wembley stadium. I loved the way they were hitting each other, the intensity."

At first Eluemunor wanted to play quarterback, but the former prop for London Welsh juniors found his calling on the offensive line.

He started playing for Finsbury Park based London Blitz, before relocating to New Jersey with his father on a promise of going as far in American football as he could.

At first the transition was difficult: "Learning all the defences and different concepts was the hardest part," he said. "There's so many things you have to know, especially if you want to play at a high level."

Despite his late start, Eluemunor was eventually offered a scholarship to play on one of America's biggest college teams.
