Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider has confirmed the team are listening to trade offers for Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman.

Sherman, a fifth-round pick out of Stanford in 2011, is one of the top defensive players in the NFL and a cornerstone of the Seahawks' defence.

But the 29-year-old drew attention for some sideline confrontations last season, including one in which he yelled at offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and it seems as if the Seahawks could be convinced to move him if the price is right.

Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed last week the team had listened to enquiries for Sherman and now Schneider has revealed he has held discussions with the player to keep him informed about what is going on.

"I think we're a very unique organisation in that regard. We have a great relationship with a lot of our players," Schneider said, via MyNorthWest.com.

"There's very much an openness. What you've seen lately in the news is real. That's on both sides. It's just open communication.

"He knows what's going on. We know what's going on. I don't know if anything would ever happen, but like I tell people all the time, 98 per cent of the deals that we're involved with, we don't follow through with.

"But at least we've opened that door, gone down the road and seen what's behind Door A or Door B."

Sherman has also given his thoughts on potentially being traded, in a text message to MMQB reporter Albert Breer.

Sherman said: "Very little chance it happens, but both sides are listening. I honestly don't have much more to say about it than what I've already said. We have a great relationship. … There is a lot of love and respect. There is no bad blood."
