The Los Angeles Rams have made Sean McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history.
McVay, who was the Washington Redskins’ offensive coordinator for the last three season, turns 31 later this month.
He has been an assistant in the Washington franchise since 2010, winning NFC East and taking them to the Wild Card play-offs in 2012 and 2015.
McVay, who went to high school in Atlanta, replaces Jeff Fisher, who was fired 13 games into the Rams' homecoming season in Los Angeles, and interim head coach John Fassel.
McVay wowed the Rams' top brass during two recent interviews and takes charge of a franchise rebuilding from a 4-12 season.
It was their 13th consecutive non-winning campaign, extending their play-off drought to 12 years.
McVay is the grandson of former San Francisco 49ers general manager John, who was involved in constructing five Super Bowl winning teams for the 49ers.
