New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese has told star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr he needs to grow up.
Beckham Jr hit the headlines last week when he and fellow Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard, Victor Cruz, and Roger Lewis were pictured with Justin Bieber in Miami.
The foursome headed to Miami straight after defeating the Washington Redskins in their final regular season game and many were critical of their decision to party less than a week before their 38-13 playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
By his own high standards, Beckham Jr put in a lacklustre display against the Packers as he caught four passes on 11 targets for just 28 yards and Reese was critical of the 24-year-old when he spoke to the media on Monday.
"I see a guy who needs to think about some of the things that he does," Reese said.
"Everybody knows he's a gifted player. But there are some things that he's done and he needs to look himself in the mirror and be honest with himself about. I think he'll do that. We'll help him with that, but he has to help himself."
Following the loss to the Packers, Beckham Jr is reported to have punched a hole in the wall outside the visitors' locker room at Lambeau Field.
That is not the first time this season her has let his temper get the better of him, as he also got hit in the face by a kicking net after slamming his helmet into it in frustration and banged his head into a metal door outside a locker room in Philadelphia.
Reese wants Beckham Jr to mature and made that clear to him when the two spoke prior to the Giants players heading off to begin their offseason break.
"He's a smart guy, but sometimes he doesn't do smart things," Reese said. "We all had to grow up at different times in our lives. I think it's time for him to do it now. He's been here three years now.
"He has a responsibility as a face of this franchise, and I think he'll accept that responsibility."
