Green Bay wide receiver Jordy Nelson faces a battle to be fit for Sunday's divisional play-off showdown with Dallas Cowboys.

The 31-year-old spent Sunday night in hospital with a rib injury suffered in the second quarter of the Packers 31-13 wild-card play-off victory over the New York Giants when he took a hit to the left side of his body from Giants safety Leon Hall's helmet.

Reports suggest he has fractured a couple of ribs and he will now miss midweek practice in a bid to make a staggering recovery and play in Sunday's clash with the NFC No 1 seed Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, a game you can see live on Sky Sports 2 from 9.40pm.

Highlights of the Green Bay Packers' win over the New York Giants in the NFC Wild Card Play-Off round

Green Bay are in sensational form with Aaron Rodgers leading them to a seven-game winning streak that has seen them clinch the NFC North title and see off the Giants.

The loss of Nelson would deprive them of a key offensive threat. Nelson caught 97 passes for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns in his 16 regular season games and while Randall Cobb returned to form with a timely trio of touchdowns on Sunday, Rodgers has already said any Nelson absence would be a "huge loss".

Nelson was initially listed as questionable to return but was later ruled out of the game entirely and while head coach Mike McCarthy has not ruled him out of Sunday's trip to Arlington, he admits the wide-out would need to feature in Saturday's final practice session to be in with a chance of playing.
