When you're the down at the bottom of the depth chart, it's important to make a statement when a chance comes along.
Paul Richardson did just that on Saturday night, when he made his case for 'Catch of the Year'. The third year wide receiver, drafted in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks, has had limited opportunities to impress so far.
Tyler Lockett was an all-pro talent in 2015, and behind both him and Doug Baldwin, Richardson struggled for snaps. However, after Lockett suffered a broken leg against the Arizona Cardinals in week 16, the 24 year old has seen increased involvement.
He saved the best for the play-offs, where he opened the scoring for Seattle with an incredible, one-handed grab in the end zone, reaching around safety Tavon Wilson to secure the ball.
Replays show that Richardson could have been penalised for a face mask penalty, but it was missed. Head coach Jim Caldwell was asked about the incident at half time, and he said that the officials had admitted they made a mistake on the call.
As it stands, the catch will rival Dez Bryant's phenomenal effort, which also came against the Lions.
Richardson had another one-handed catch later in the game, grabbing the 27-yard pass from quarterback Russell Wilson with less than five minutes to play. The Seahawks went on to win the game 26-6, and will face the Atlanta Falcons next weekend.
