Jacksonville Jaguars are off the mark in the new season after battling past the Indianapolis Colts at Wembley Stadium.

Game changer

Trailing by three points in the closing stages, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck elected not to run for a first-down - instead, his hurried pass to Dwayne Allen was intercepted by Josh Johnson. The Colts would not get a better opportunity to close the three-point margin.

The game

The previously 0-3 Jaguars got off to a perfect start when Bortles, much-maligned for rarely throwing early touchdown passes, found Robinson in the opening 15 minutes.

The Colts' scoring power came initially from Adam Vinatieri, their 43-year-old kicker, who nailed first-half field goals to extend his personal record to 34-consecutive scores.

But the Jaguars further extended their lead when Bortles faked a pass and exploded into the end-zone himself from close-range - kicker Jason Myers then added a trio of field goals as the score increased to 20-6.

The Colts finally clicked into gear in the fourth quarter - Frank Gore scored their first touchdown in the opening moments after powering through from two yards, before TY Hilton ghosted into the end-zone to collect Andrew Luck's pass.

Allen Hurns' 42-yard touchdown re-established the Jaguars' 10-point lead but still the Colts roared back - a 64-yard pass from Luck picked out Phillip Dorsett in the end-zone to force a nervy ending.

The ever-reliable Vinatieri made it a three-point game with three minutes remaining but the Jaguars held firm to finally record a 2016 victory.
