Super Bowl MVP Von Miller says there is "no chance" he will play for the Denver Broncos this season unless he gets a new contract.

The linebacker, who has 60 career sacks and four Pro Bowl appearances to his name, had the franchise tag placed on him by the Broncos which would pay him more than $14m (£9.85m) next season.

Miller and the Broncos have until July 15 to agree a new contract, or the 27-year-old will have a decision to make - sit out until a deal is sorted or back down on his comments on Thursday.

He said on Instagram: "I love my Teammates, Coaches, and My Fans but there is No Chance I play the 2016 season under the Franchise tag."

According to ESPN, Miller turned down a six-year $114.5m (£80.6m) deal from the Broncos last week.

Talks became more complicated this week when the Philadelphia Eagles signed defensive end Fletcher Cox to a six-year deal worth a reported $103m (£72.5m), with $63m of that in guaranteed money - the largest sum guaranteed to a non-quarterback in NFL history.

Miller's value has always been high to the Broncos, but his stock rose with his performance in Super Bowl 50 when he made five solo tackles, sacked Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton twice and forced two fumbles, one of them ending in a touchdown.
