Super Bowl winner Martellus Bennett has announced his retirement to concentrate on his 'life's work' in 'the world of creativity'.

The veteran tight end took to social media on Friday night with a post on his Twitter feed appearing to confirm that his 10-year career in the NFL is over.

Bennett is the founder of The Imagination Agency, through which he has released a children's book and app, but was released by New England after a disappointing 2017 with the Patriots and the Green Bay Packers (30 passes for 286 yards and no touchdowns).

And after a career which included a starring role in the Patriots Super Bowl LI winning season, he looks to have played his last NFL snap.

Bennett began last season with Green Bay but was released by the Packers with a designation that he failed to disclose a physical condition related to a shoulder issue.

He then joined the Patriots for two games before ending the year on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury.
