Ben Roethlisberger looks set to miss the Pittsburgh Steelers' clash with New England Patriots this weekend after suffering a knee injury which requires surgery, claims the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Roethlisberger, who has an NFL-high 15 touchdown passes, hobbled off during the second quarter of Sunday's 30-15 defeat to the Miami Dolphins before returning to battle through the pain in the second half.
The 34-year-old quarterback reportedly suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and will have a clean-up operation on Monday, which will see him miss the Week 7 clash at least.
However, Roethlisberger, who said his knee was "black and blue" after the game, could be facing a longer spell on the sidelines should the injury require more just a trim of the meniscus.
The Steelers are on a bye in Week 8 following Sunday's clash with the Pats and then travel to Baltimore for a showdown with the Baltimore Ravens on November 9.
Landry Jones replaced Rothlisberger when he came off injured against the Steelers and is likely to be fill-in starter.
