Wasps and Loughborough won through to a repeat of the 2017 Vitality Superleague with victories in Saturday's semi-finals.
With all four of last year's teams making it to the semi-finals, all eyes were on whether the competition would get its top two teams from the regular season through to Saturday's showpiece at the Copper Box in London.
Team Bath and Manchester Thunder, both former champions, had different ideas as the Vitality Superleague season headed towards its dramatic conclusion.
The defending champions proved too strong for the five-time winners of the event, Bath's struggles against their top-four rivals down the stretch meant they came into the final on the back of four successive defeats.
Wasps made sure there was to be no upset with a dominant performance from the outset to claim a return to the final.
The opening semi-final may have proved one-sided but the second was a keenly contested affair - both teams having beaten Wasps over the course of the season and been separating in the table only by goals scored.
Again there was little between the pair, with Lightning doing enough to edge each quarter without ever shaking off Thunder, who never quite got close enough down the stretch and Loughborough sealed their revenge mission.
It's all eyes on next week's Grand Final as the 2018 campaign reaches its dramatic conclusion live on Sky Sports Mix and Main Event with coverage of Wasps v Loughborough underway on Saturday from 4.30pm and centre pass at 5pm
