Hertfordshire Mavericks have continued to add to their coaching line-up with former player Camilla Buchanan joining as assistant coach.

Buchanan was a playing member of Mavericks for eight seasons, winning the Superleague in 2011, and takes up her first coaching position alongside Director of Netball Robyn Broughton, who took up a newly-created position with the franchise in July.

Having confirmed the New Zealander last month, Mavericks continue their coaching revamp by appointing Buchanan to the assistant coach role vacated by Mel Mansfield who departed for Wasps Netball.

The Mavericks coaching team will be rounded off with a second assistant coach to be announced next week but speaking about the latest appointment, Franchise Director Gloria Keech said: "Camilla was a hard-working, intelligent, dedicated and competitive mid-courter and I am confident she will bring all those attributes to her coaching at Mavericks.

"She has a real passion for the club and we are excited that she has agreed to join our talented coaching team."

Buchanan joined Mavericks as a young athlete in 2008, going on to spend eight seasons as a playing member of the club and felt the time was right to make the transition from senior player to coach.

"I am Mavericks through and through - after eight seasons, one championship and two finals, I am excited to make the transition from player to coach," Buchanan said.

"During my time at Mavericks I've been lucky enough to play under some of the best coaches and while you never really want to hang up your trainers, now seems like the perfect time to make this move.

"The opportunity to work with Robyn makes this all the sweeter - she has some serious credentials and I am blessed to be given the opportunity to work with her at the club that I love.

"I couldn't be more excited to work with players that I've been side by side with and also those that are coming up through the ranks. The anticipation for this season has already caused some sleepless nights and I cannot wait to get going.

"One of the best parts will be getting back in front of our home ground - we have the best and most dedicated fans in the league."
