Mikki Austin believes Surrey Storm relished the role of underdogs as they completed an upset win over Manchester Thunder in the Superleague Grand Final.
The Thunder were favourites to win the title after finishing top of the Vitality Netball Superleague, but Surrey made a strong start to Saturday's match and held on for a 55-53 win at the Copper Box Arena.
Austin was forced to watch the final from the bench after recently recovering from an injury and revealed how the Storm squad and coaching staff always believed the team could retain their title.
Kathryn Ratnapala plotted Surrey's victory over Thunder and Austin also praised the influence of Storm's head coach.
