Devin Booker became the youngest player in NBA history to score 50 or more points in consecutive games but could not prevent the Phoenix Suns from losing to the Washington Wizards.
Booker, who racked up 59 points in the Suns' 125-92 loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday night, nailed 19 of his 29 field goal attempts, including 3-of-9 from three-point range, and shot 9-of-10 from the free throw line to notch his second 50-point game in a row, a feat no Phoenix Suns player has done before.
At 22 years and 149 days, Booker is also the youngest of the 10 players in NBA history to complete the feat.
Sadly for the Suns, Booker's scoring heroics were once again not enough to ensure victory.
Thomas Bryant's three-point play with 2.8 seconds remaining lifted the visiting Washington Wizards to a 124-121 win.
Booker scored 30 points in the first half on 10-of-14 shooting and his lay-up with Booker's lay-up with 8:21 left in the third quarter earned the Suns a 72-67 lead.
Late in the fourth quarter, another Booker lay-up tied the score 118-118 with 1:30 left.
With time expiring and the score tied 121-121, Bradley Beal drove baseline and lofted an alley-oop pass to Bryant, who laid it in and added a free throw.
After a timeout, Phoenix inbounded, and Troy Daniels' corner three-point attempt went off the rim at the buzzer as the Suns dropped their fifth consecutive game, wasting an outstanding scoring night from Booker for the second successive game.
