Giannis Antetokounmpo was in unstoppable form as he scored 43 points in the Milwaukee Bucks 148-129 win over the Washington Wizards.
Antetokoumpo needed just 31 minutes to collect his 43-point haul, making 17-of-21 field goals (81.0 per cent) thanks partly to numerous dunks and lay-ups close to the basket. He also made all three of his three-point attempts and filled out the stat sheet with six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Giannis opened his account two minutes into the game, Euro-stepping his way around Wizards forward Jeff Green to score at the rim. A minute later, he stole possession and raced upcourt, setting up team-mate Malcolm Brogdon for an easy lay-up. When Brogdon missed, Antetokounmpo gathered the rebound and rammed home a vicious left-handed slam. He then showcased his court vision, firing a pass to Eric Bledsoe who drained a corner three.
Antetokounmpo continued to victimise the helpless Washington defense in the second quarter, slicing his way into the paint for more dunks. Another astute pass set up Brogdon for a three-pointer.
Antetokounmpo scored 16 of his points in the third quarter to put the game well and truly to bed. After another steal, he dribbled the length of the court before soaring to rim, drawing contact and slamming home a right-handed dunk before completing the three-point play from the free-throw line.
