New Orleans Pelicans president of operations David Griffin does not feel Anthony Davis has played his final game for the franchise.

Griffin feels the disgruntled six-time All-Star is "open to staying", despite requesting a trade two months ago.

Griffin is optimistic after a recent conversation with agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, the firm that represents Davis.

"We have a long successful history with Klutch Sports," Griffin said during his introductory press conference.

"Rich Paul and I have spoke about Anthony. We are both excited about what we could potentially build here.

"Rich Paul and I were part of succeeding. They will understand when I say this: 'You are either all the way or all the way out.'"

Owner Gayle Benson supports Griffin's views and is hoping Davis will decide to remain part of the franchise.

"We certainly don't want somebody here whose heart isn't in it, but hopefully Anthony will have a change of heart, and if he does, we'll welcome him back with open arms," Benson said.

"We'd like for him to stay if everybody agrees to it."
