All-Star center Karl Anthony-Towns was forced to leave the court with a right knee injury during the Minnesota Timberwolves' overtime victory over the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
Towns had continued his dominant form by racking up 40 points and 16 rebounds, but came up hopping after an off-ball cut in the final seconds of regulation.
The 23-year-old limped to the bench and the Timberwolves soon confirmed via Twitter that he would not return to the game for overtime.
Timberwolves head coach Ran Saunders confirmed was unable to provide much clarity on Towns' condition following the game.
"He's just had initial evaluations, but he was walking around so there's really no info at the moment," Saunders said.
The Timberwolves managed to pull out the victory in overtime, largely thanks to veteran point guard Derrick Rose, who has suffered several major knee injuries during his career.
"I can't lie, it's tough," Rose said.
"You can't believe it at first, but that's why we're pros and that's why the guy that's coming off the bench behind him has to come out and give us his all."
