Washington Wizards point guard John Wall will miss the rest of the season as he needs surgery on a chronic Achilles injury.

Wall has struggled with Achilles issues in recent seasons and made the decision to go under the knife after visiting with specialists in Wisconsin.

He had scored 20.7 points per game this season, adding 8.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds, but had struggled on defense and was often unable to compete fully in team practices.

Surgery is expected to be undertaken by the end of next week.
