Award winning actor and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan Bill Murray celebrated with the team and got doused in champagne after the miraculous World Series win.
Murray was clearly emotional after the Cubs secured the top prize in baseball by defeating the Cleveland Indians 8-7.
The Cubs had seen a 6-3 lead evaporate in the eighth inning but, after runs batted in (RBI) from Ben Zobrist and Miguel Montero, Mike Montgomery gained the final out in the 10th to secure the Series.
Cleveland had led the series 3-1 but suffered three straight defeats - the last two on home soil - as their own drought goes on for a 69th year.
The World Series success was the first for the Chicago Cubs since 1908, when they beat the Detroit Tigers 4-1.
Thursday's victory sparked euphoric scenes throughout Chicago and among their fan base and even drew a response from outgoing President Barack Obama, who supports city rivals the White Sox.
"It happened: @Cubs win World Series," he wrote. "That's change even this South Sider can believe in. Want to come to the White House before I leave?"
