David Weir out-sprinted old rival Marcel Hug to win the men's wheelchair race at the Virgin London Marathon for the eighth time.
Weir, who regained his title from Swiss star Hug 12 months ago, came out on top in a race that turned tactical in the closing stages and ended with three athletes battling for victory.
A track record appeared on during the first half of the race, but things slowed down quite dramatically as the miles ticked off.
There were only three possible champions as the leaders entered The Mall, with Weir battling double champion Hug and Daniel Romanchuk of the United States.
But it was 38-year-old Weir, whose first London Marathon win came 16 years ago, who showed the more potent turn of speed to win by just over a chair's length, with Romanchuk close behind in third.
The women's race was won by Australia's Madison De Rozario, who held off America's Tatyana McFadden in a tight finish.
Another American, Susannah Scaroni, took third ahead of Switzerland's Manuela Schar with Jade Jones the best British finisher in seventh place.
